Participates at the Sziget Festival in Budapest
On
August 13, 2006, cultural group of the Indonesian
Embassy with 16 musicians and dancers participated in
the Sziget Festival (www.sziget.hu),
which is one of the biggest multi-cultural outdoor event
in Europe. At the Afro-Latin Stage, for
approximately 30 minutes, the cultural group of
the Embassy played Sundanese traditional music and
performed West Java and Balinese dances accompanied by
the gamelan music.
Due
to its uniqueness, the Indonesian Cultural show caught
remarkable attention and appraisal from hundreds of
audience, mostly young generation Therefore it was a
variation of modern-pop alternative culture which
dominated the event.
The-14th
Sziget
Festival was opened on August 9, 2006 and ended on
August 16, 2006, approximately attended by 350.000
people. There were 25 stages on the festival area
hosting 252 performances from 44 countries and 500 other
performances from Hungarian participants. At the
festival there were performed the famous group of bands,
well-known musicians, dances, acrobats and theater
groups. The performance of Indonesian Embassy was
intended to promote Indonesian culture especially for
young generation in Hungary.
