Cultural Days, 23-26 March 2006

The Indonesian Embassy in cooperation with the management
of Asia Center, organized
an event of Indonesian Cultural Days within the
frame of Budapest Spring Festival in the center of trade
and business, Asia Center, Budapest on 23-26 March, 2006.
This center of trade was established since March 2005 and
has offered its location as a market for Asian products.
Indonesia has used the Asia Center to establish Indonesian
Resources Pavillion since December 2005 to promote the
export of Indonesian products. The cultural activity in
Asia Center is an comprehensive promotion approach that
combine the concept of sustainability Indonesian
trade, tourism and investment in Hungary.

The program
consists of the performance of Indonesian dances and
gamelan, photos exhibition of ex Darmasiswa program,
Indonesian traditional costumes fashion show, Indonesian
promotion films and an introduction to Indonesia
culinary.

In the event, it was performed gamelan rindik, bamboo bali music and also traditional dances from
Indonesian provinces such as Bali, Jakarta, West Java and
West Sumatera on the 25-26 March 2006. On the fashion
show, it was presented the traditional wedding dress from
Kalimantan, Central Java, Betawi (Jakarta), Maluku, and
also traditional dress from South Sumatera, West Java,
Sulawesi, Kalimantan and Bali.

Both the
dances and fashion show caught tremendous attention and
appraisal from the audience that consists of Hungarian
society. The objective of the event is to bring the faces
of Indonesia closer to the Hungarians
people by introducing its rich culture through the variety
of its photos, dances, costume and food.
Basic knowledge obtained through this event is increasing interest for
Indonesia
for its colourful cultural life and
tradition.
