THE PERFORMANCE OF AGRIA SWARA CHOIR FROM BOGOR
AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY (IPB BOGOR) IN HUNGARY
On
April 1-4, 2007 Agria Swara Choir from IPB Bogor,
participated at the Budapest International
Choirs Competition. The choir’s festival joined
by representatives from 20 countries. Agria
Swara choir consists of 37 members and led by
conductor Arvin Zeinullah, participated out of
12 in the two categories.
For
B1 category (Mixed Choirs), the competition was
held in the Palace of Art in Budapest, on April
3, 2007. Agria Swara Choir performed 3 songs
composed by famous composers, namely A’un giro
Sol composed by Claudio Monteverdi, Justorum
Animae, composed by Charles V. Stanford and
Gloria composed by Hyo Won Woo. The performance
gained tremendous applause from the audience,
included the Indonesian society, Indonesian
Ambassador and spouse. For this category, Agria
Swara got the first place, defeated 6 other
contestants from other countries and also
received a golden diploma, and a trophy. On the
same day, Agria Swara and 4 others choir had a
performance in the Friendship Concert. Agria
Swara at that time presented 6 Indonesian
traditional songs.
On
April 4, 2007, Agria Swara competed in the F
category (folklore) performing 3 Indonesian
traditional songs such as Tanduk Majang- Madura,
arranged by Soli Tigawahio, Soleram – Riau,
arranged by Ivan Yohan and Gio Bintang-Madura,
arranged by Budi Susanto and got the third place
and a golden diploma.
For
the gala event, competition for the Grand Prix,
the final for all the winners of category, Agria
Swara performed 2 songs, namely Sicchio vorei
Marie composed by Claudio Monteverdi and Janger
from Bali Indonesia, arranged by Bambang Jusana
and Avip Priatna. Janger’s song gained
tremendous and long applause from the audience
because of the harmony of the solid voice, and
attractive dance wearing traditional costumes by
the Agra Swara choir.
At
the announcement of the winners, Agria Swara has
got also a special award for the conductor Arvin
Zeinullah as outstanding artistic achievement.
After completed the Budapest Choirs Competition,
on April 7, 2007, with the cooperation of
Indonesian Embassy in Budapest and Mayor of
Godollo, Agria Swara Choir could have a concert
at the Godollo Palace, in the prestigious and
main room of the palace. At the concert, with
approximately 200 guests, Agria Swara performed
9 Indonesian traditional songs and dances
wearing traditional custom. At the concert,
Godollo choir also performed 3 Hungarian songs.
At the end of the concert, Agria Swara and
Godollo Choir together presented Esti Dal song
composed by the famous composer Zoltan Kodaly.
