RI AND MACEDONIA SIGNED VISA EXEMPTION AGREEMENT
FOR DIPLOMATIC AND SERVICE PASSPORT
On
28 September 2007 in Skopje, Ambassador Eddi
Hariyadhi, Director General for American and
European Affairs of the Department of Foreign
Affairs signed, Agreement on Mutual Exemption
of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic
and Service Passports on behalf of
Indonesian government with his Macedonian
counterpart, Igor Ilievski, State Secretary of
Foreign Ministry. The signing was held after the
RI-Macedonia Bilateral Consultation Meeting
where Ambassador Hariyadhi as the Head of
Indonesian delegation.
”The Agreement is established to facilitate
bilateral efforts for enhancing mutual (high)
official visit of the two countries in purpose
to strengthen their bilateral relations in any
sector”, said Ambassador Eddi Hariyadhi after
the signing.
Within 2005-2007, Indonesia and Macedonia enjoy
excellent political and economic bilateral ties.
The official visit of Indonesian President’s
Special Envoy, Ambassador Nana Sutresna to
Skopje in 2005, presentation of letter of
credents of Indonesian Ambassador to Macedonia,
Mangasi Sihombing in March 2007 and the visit of
State Secretary Igor Ilievski to Jakarta for
Bilateral Consultation meeting in June 2007 had
shown some official activities during last 2
years. Both countries also have had mutual
support arrangement in some international
organization candidatures.
“The two countries intend to excavate further
opportunities for enhancing bilateral
cooperation, and that is one of the reasons both
sides agreed to sign the said agreement”,
explained Indonesian Ambassador accredited to
Republic of Macedonia resident in Budapest,
Mangasi Sihombing.
Indonesia-Macedonia investment and trade
cooperation are not showing its concrete
potential, so that both sides need to put more
efforts to strengthen and diversify its
bilateral cooperation, not only on the level of
government but also among business operators
(investors and traders) themselves, added
Ambassador Sihombing.
At
the moment, both governments have conversed on
negotiation process of 2 (two) following
agreements and subjects to be signed: the
Agreement on Promoting and Protection for
Investment, and the Agreement on Avoidance of
Double Taxation. These agreements are expectedly
able to improve Indonesian and Macedonian
bilateral investment and trade cooperation.
