WEST JAVA NIGHT IN BUDAPEST
On
May 21, 2007, at Best Western Grand Hongaria
Hotel, the Indonesian Embassy in Budapest and
the West Java Provincial Government organized a
performance representing West Java cultures
presented by young and talented artists from
Bandung.
At
the event, 25 artists from West Java consist of
dancers and gamelan players for about 1 hour 15
minutes performed traditional dances and songs
from West Java, such as Peacock Dance, Ponggawa
Dance, Candle Ice Song, Jaipongan Rampak Tanjung
Flower dance, Drum Ensemble, Fighting Mask
Dance, Tablo Dance, and Barding Song.
Approximately 120 distinguished guests invited
especially for this event, perceived satisfied
with the performance of the West Java Group
which performed before in Tong-Tong Fairs, Den
Haag, Netherlands and after that flew to
Budapest. Their energetic, attractive and well
communicated performance caught the attention of
the audience and enchanted them.
In
his remark, Ambassador, H. E. Mangasi Sihombing
explained about the serious efforts from West
Java local government and society to keep the
image of flower city Bandung as “ de Parijs van
Java”. Ambassador also reminded that Bandung was
the host of Asia Africa Conference on 1955,
initiated by the late Prime Minister of India,
Jawaharhal Nehru and resulted the Dasasila
Bandung principles became the living norm in
international relations order.
